Riser Project

While most campus buildings currently use coaxial cabling in their vertical (or riser) cabling systems, coaxial cable is not capable of supporting more that shared 10 megabit per second Ethernet and does not allow flexibility in how services are provided and supported. Today, the industry standard for riser systems is mulit-mode and single-mode fiber optic cables. The Riser Project will ensure modern vertical cabling infrastructure inside all campus buildings, installing fiber optic cabling and redesigning utility closets and cabling pathways. This will enable the delivery of modern communications services in every building.
